The history of the conference began on April 25, 2003, when on the initiative of prof. dr hab. Eng. Tadeusz Bobko, Department of General Building and Building Physics of the Faculty of Civil Engineering of the PCZ organized the first conference covering theoretical and practical issues of modern energy-saving construction, entitled "Contemporary construction issues with optimized energy potential". In the following year, the name of the conference was changed to "Constructions of Optimized Energy Potential" and in 2018 to "Materials and Energy Saving Technologies - Constructions of Optimized Energy Potential". In 2024, the name of the conference changed to Materials, Structures, Technologies and Management in Civil and Environmental Engineering. The conference is a forum for the exchange of views and experiences of scientists and practitioners in the search for construction and material, technological, economic, organizational and operational solutions for the needs of construction with low and optimal energy demand, taking into account ecological aspects. From 2020, the conference is organized by the Department of Construction Process Engineering at the Faculty of Civil Engineering of the PCz. The participants of the conference from abroad represented research centers, incl. from: Armenia, Belarus, Czech Republic, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Lithuania, Latvia, Russia, Romania, Slovakia, Ukraine, Hungary. Since 2011, in spite of standard sessions, the conference formula has also been introduced to off-site sessions to construction facilities, production plants, laboratories and other institutions. Introduced to the program next to the session with the presentation of papers, the practical part allows conference participants to learn about specific architectural and construction projects, production technologies and research processes for construction products. Meetings of scientists with practitioners, exchange of thoughts and experiences are a valuable element of the organized conference.
